Diamond completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at the University of South Australia in 2016. Diamond started her career at Pooraka Community Early Education and Care as the Kindy Teacher.  This provided the opportunity for her to bring new ideas, educational practices and push boundaries to develop the “Yawarra Nature Pre-School Program.” From tree climbing, to lighting camp fires, birds, bugs and everything in between, she is passionate about early education and at the core is influenced by the Reggio Emilio educational philosophy and Claire Warden’s approach to experiential learning. Diamond truly believes that children are competent and capable and need long periods of uninterrupted play to take risks and develop an understanding for the world around them.

 

Since 2021 Diamond has been in the Directors role, which saw her passion for outdoor nature play flow through the whole centre and create a community of children and passionate educators all working together in their all-weather program. In 2022, Diamond commenced work as a University Tutor and University Supervisor at the University of South Australia where she facilitates tutorials and supports our next generation of practitioners.

 

In 2022, Diamond also began working with Michelle Walsh at Hourglass Consultancy as an early childhood consultant. 

 

In 2023 Diamond was fortunate enough to attend the International Reggio Emilia exchange in Italy. Diamond spent 5 days living and breathing Reggio culture alongside 300 passionate educators from over 33 countries and was by far a career highlight. Her time in Reggio has not only changed her lens professionally but also personally.

 

Diamond kick started 2024 as she embarks on the next step in her career in a new role as Executive Director of Yawarra Children Services. This role sees Diamond overseeing two services.

 

Within Hourglass Consultancy, Diamond delivers inservice training sessions and can provide service support. She’s passionate and the feedback when Diamond delivers training is always exceptional!
