Play Fundamentals: The Play Cycle, Stages, Educators Role in Play and Understand Play. (1)

We know play is valuable, we understand the benefits and we know how to set up great opportunities for play. 

We struggle to understand why parents and other people in the community don't understand the value of play and recognise the benefits. 

So, let's talk about play on an even deeper level. Let's explore and understand the Play Cycle and the fundamentals of our role in play. Let's explore ideas such as stepping back and reflecting on our influence on play. 

This will certainly support you to talk with families and community members about play in an even more tangible way. 

After this session, you will notice the stages of the Play Cycle everywhere you look and you will be able to identify what stage children are in. 

We will explore:

- STYLES OF PLAY

- SCHEMAS

- EDUCATOR ROLE IN PLAY

- DISPOSITIONS FOR LEARNING IN PLAY

We will explore the concept of FLOW and how important this is for children. 

We will also reflect deeply about our role in play and influence on play. Don't tell anyone, but it may scratch the ego - just a bit.  

We will unpack many concepts and I will share some real examples with you.
