About the Event

Leading & Exceeding: is all about the role of leading a service up to, through and beyond Assessment. 

I know it's not the be-all-and-end-all but it's super important and I know you all worry about it all the time. 

There are so many considerations you have to make as a leader and it doesn't hurt to take a minute to breathe, reflect and develop your capacity. 

In order to lead people you need to be incredibly self-reflective, have emotional intelligence and the ability to connect with people situationally and personally. 

It doesn't matter how big your team is, there is always the opportunity to rethink your approach and be strategic about setting up for Assessment. 

My Leadership journey has been long and varied - from being a room leader/Teacher to a Director, Lead Validator and Manager of 10 area managers and 90 services. Each leadership role and each team brought with it new challenges, new learnings and a host of things to get excited about. Trial and error was my middle name. I won some hearts and minds and failed to win others. The thing about leadership is that you can't win every time but you can certainly focus on improving.  

In this session we will explore a range of leadership topics including: 

  • Leadership styles, approaches and concepts such as Emotional Intelligence, Situational Leadership and Connecting with Heart. 
  • We will talk about communication - how it is received and perceived and how to assess your coms approach. 
  • How to inspire your team. 
  • Driving change without causing change fatigue. 
  • Keeping spirits high in a really turbulent time. 
  • Providing feedback to team members. 
  • Developing rituals for conversations. 
  • Developing the capacity of your team. 
  • Creating a culture of success 

We will also cover a number of topics related to your role in preparing for Assesment: 

- Preparing your team for Assessment 

- Documenting your evidence 

- Setting meaningful goals 

- PowerQIPing 

- Educational Leadership role 

AND hopefully be remembered as the best leader your team ever had! 

Recommended for: This session would be great for leaders working in the Early Childhood Sector or Outside School   Hour's sector (including team leaders and educational leaders).
